Printer-friendly version

Fruit and vegetablesGrow It Yourself (GIY) Groups meet in two libraries (Walkinstown and Raheny libraries). GIY groups are local food growers networks that recreate the camaraderie of allotment growing for back-garden vegetable growers by getting them together on a regular basis to learn from each other and exchange tips, war-stories and produce. Details as follows:

Walkinstown Library - Grow It Yourself (GIY) Group meets on the third Monday of the month from 6.30pm-7.45pm. Tel. 01 4558159

Raheny Library - Clontarf/Raheny Grow It Yourself (GIY) Group normally meet in Raheny Library on the third Thursday of every month at 6.30pm (subject to change, please contact library in advance). Tel 01 8315521.

GIY membership is free and open to people interested in food growing at all levels, i.e. from growing a few herbs on the balcony to complete self-sufficiency, from beginners to old hands.

The plan is to establish a GIY group in every town and county in Ireland. On the GIY website you will be able to find out more about the joy of ‘growing it yourself’, communicate with GIY’ers nationwide and locate GIY groups in your area.
