For children play is the most important thing they do. Children love playing, it comes naturally to them, they will do it anywhere and anytime, though they prefer and benefit from spending time playing outdoors. Play is essential to the healthy development of children and young people – not just their physical development, but their social, motory and cognitive development too.

Dublin City Council maintains about 100 playgrounds around the city, some in parks and some in housing complexes.
