Bathing Water Quality Results

Further to receipt of bacteriological results from bathing water samples taken on August 12th and consultation with the HSE, the temporary bathing prohibitions at Dollymount, Sandymount & Merrion beaches has been lifted today, 14th August. Dublin City Council notes that there is already a season long prohibition of bathing in place covering Sandymount and Merrion beaches and this will remain in place.

Water Quality in the River Liffey

Water samples of the River Liffey were taken on 31st July and 1st August 2019 and the results became available today, Friday 2nd August at 1.30pm. The results are exceptionally poor, and significantly exceed the maximum permitted levels for designated bathing waters.
