Printer-friendly version

Dublin City Council’s Sports Development Officers use sport as an effective tool in engaging young people, at risk of drug misuse, into more structured and positive activities. They work with children and young people at risk between the ages of 10 – 21.

Their role is to design, organise & deliver a wide range of sport/physical activities for youth at risk. They liaise with relevant stakeholders including National Governing Bodies, Youth groups, Early School Leavers, Outreach projects, Local Drugs Task Force and Community Groups.

They access training opportunities for volunteers and coaches, increase access to facilities/programmes for young people and provide information/support for clubs applying for grants & funding.
