The Ballymun Community Development team are committed to building relations with residents and working with them to develop community spirit.
We believe that residents participation is valuable and has an impact on the quality of everyone’s life in Ballymun.
We want to serve the people of Ballymun better and to engage more effectively with local residents for the benefit of the community both now and into the future.
There are a number of steps and measures currently being implemented to support the growth of meaningful resident participation in Ballymun:
We establish, fund and offer ongoing support to a wide range of local community groups and organisations
- We facilitate community training and capacity building
- We organise and fund numerous community activities and events
- We support many local groups through the small grants scheme
- We develop and provide back-up to Resident Groups and Associations
- We offer service development advice to local community and voluntary groups
Our staff will work with any community or residents’ group that wants help to enable them to participate fully in their community. We work hard at building links with residents and organisations from the local community and voluntary sector.

The Community Events team of Dublin City Council has a proud record of achievement in organising and delivering community events for the residents of Ballymun. We play a leading role in the Ballymun Festival Group, the agency responsible for the annual “Otherworld Festival” at Halloween and “LiFT” Youth Arts Festival at Easter.
The Community Development Team also works closely with the Ballymun community to organise and promote the following events throughout the year :
