German Film Screening: Dreamträumer (Dark Dreamers)

In partnership with the Goethe-Institut Irland, Dolphin's Barn Library hosts the German Film Club on the second Wednesday of every month, featuring a screening of a German-language film with English subtitles. July's film screening will take place on Wednesday 8 July at 6pm.
This month’s film is Dreamträumer (Dark Dreamers), directed by Philipp Klinger.
17-year-old Rebekkah has lived a sheltered life in a small village in the Black Forest. She’s popular with everyone and has a longtime boyfriend, she’d lived a charmed life until two years ago her older brother, Dennis, killed himself by jumping off a bridge. His friend Vincent jumped with him but survived. Rebekkah is struggling to come to terms with his death, unable to talk to truly connect with anyone about how she’s feeling.
Vincent returns to the village after a long absence and Rebekkah is drawn to him, she finds that finally she has someone to talk with about Dennis. They begin a relationship that for Rebekkah is both healing and destructive.
