Looking for a story that’s bursting with laughter, rhythm, and jungle-sized personality? Well, swing into storytime with this wildly inventive take on the classic Cindarella tale—perfect for young readers who love a good story and plenty of silliness.

In this version, Cindergorilla isn’t sweeping hearths—she’s doing jungle chores while her snooty step-apes prepare for the Disco ball. But when her hairy godmother (a flamboyant orangutan) appears, the fun truly begins. With a wave of her wand, banana skins are magically transformed into glittering dancing sneakers, and Cindergorilla gets her chance to shine on the dance floor.

Gareth P. Jones’ rhyming text is energetic and playful, making it a delight to read aloud, while Loretta Schauer’s illustrations bring the jungle to life with vibrant detail and hilarious characters on every page. Children will enjoy the fresh take on a familiar story, and adults won’t mind reading it over and over—it’s that much fun.

I love Cindergorilla for its celebration of self-expression, dancing, independence and the way it invites readers to embrace their inner wild side. It's a brilliant addition to any storytime lineup, whether at home, in the classroom, or here in the library! Perfect for children aged 4-8.

Pick up a copy at your local library or reserve online.
