The Children's Book Festival is back this October! With over 40 reading events taking place in our libraries, there's something for everyone.

Children's Book Festival

The annual Children’s Book Festival once again lights up Dublin City Libraries this October. This much anticipated national festival promotes reading for pleasure, igniting a love of books in younger readers.

We have put together an exciting programme of over 40 different reading, creative writing and illustration events for primary school children across our 21 libraries.

Keep an eye out for our events HERE.

Branch librarians will organise class visits throughout the month. Children can meet a published author or illustrator and learn about the process of creating a book. Illustrators Audrey Dowling and author Shane Hegarty will be encouraging the children to have fun creating their own characters and stories.

Aidan Courtney will showcase his skills in both Irish and English with Coimici Gael, where children will get the opportunity to create their own comic strip. (Inchicore Ballymun Coolock)

Open to the public during mid-term break, Margaret Anne Suggs will be in Pembroke library on the 29th of October (contact branch to book) Join Margaret Anne and make your own puppet bird based on her new book Pip and Robin.

Children will have the opportunity to meet their favourite authors and discover the very best in new writing and illustration. Top writers and illustrators taking part this year include:
