Get Reading! With summer holidays approaching we invite you to ignite children's imaginations by registering them for our exciting Summer Stars challenge. As well as enjoying some great reads and maintaining literacy skills, children can gain rewards as they read. Plus every participant is in with a chance of winning a prize at the end of the summer!
Your library is packed full of books where you can meet funny imaginary characters and go on exciting adventures! Register for the Summer Stars reading challenge at your local library.
Reading Tips
We have some summer reading tips that your parents might like. The school year is almost over but you can still spark your imagination, and join in activities by taking part in our exciting programme.
Reading cards and reviews: Children can track their reading progress with reading cards which can be marked each time a book is read. These are available from your local library. The reviews section allows readers to upload their views on what they have read.
Summer Stars BorrowBox: Browse, borrow, read and listen to the Summer Stars collection of children’s eBooks and eAudio books through the library’s BorrowBox app. Check out a special Summer Stars collection coming soon.
This is free for all Dublin City Libraries members to use from anywhere, anytime. Join Dublin City Libraries online for free here.
Flex Your brain muscles with activities like word searches, spot the difference, code scramblers and much more. The solutions are there too-but do not be tempted until you finish!

Enter the Summer Stars competition! All entries are to be emailed to [email protected]
Email a photo of the cover of a book you enjoyed reading this summer along with your first name, age, library card number, the name of your local library and one or two lines about why you enjoyed this book so much. The best ones will be published to the Dublin City Libraries Facebook page. All entrants will be entered into a draw for a prize. Closing date is 31 August. For ages 12 and under.
