Dublin City Council's preparation in regards to a further status Yellow weather warning
Published on 2nd February 2026
Dublin City Council’s Flood Management Team continues to prepare for adverse weather conditions and related impacts, with valuable support from many internal DCC departments.
Met Éireann has issued a further status yellow warning for Dublin, Louth and Wexford and is valid from 21:00 Monday 2nd February 2026 to 13:00 Tuesday 3rd February 2026 and a flood advisory exists.
River levels remain high and there exists a high tides advisory. Further periods of rainfall are expected on already saturated ground.
Dublin City Council is monitoring river levels and coastal conditions closely, to ensure appropriate responses as required. Dublin City Council are in regular contact with the National Emergency Coordination Group on all aspects of recent weather events.
Tidal Warnings prompt DCC to close Carparks along coasts at Sandymount and Clontarf (from Tuesday morning 6am) (some wave overtopping may occur). The cycle lane at Clontarf will also close as a precautionary measure.
Eden Quay Boardwalk (floodgates) will close mid-morning as a precautionary measure.
The flood gates along the River Dodder will remain closed until further notice.
Our Crews remain active across the city, making arrangements for possible events and responding to issues as they arise. Crews’ removal of debris at rivers (racks) and elsewhere is ongoing to optimise flows.
Dublin City Council maintains a limited supply of sandbags at strategic locations for use in response to identified flooding risks. These resources are deployed by the Council where required, with priority given to critical infrastructure and locations assessed as being at immediate risk.
For urgent flooding issues during working hours, please contact DCC Customer Services on 01 222 2222. For urgent issues outside normal working hours, the DCC Out of Hours Team can be reached at 01 222 3150. Further updates will issue as conditions develop.
