Let’s clean up Dublin – Lord Mayor. Have your say on cleaning up the capital

Published on 1st April 2026

People across Dublin are being urged to share their views on how to tackle litter in the city centre by the Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Councillor Ray McAdam said input from residents and groups to Dublin City Council on the Draft Litter Management Plan is essential to make Dublin a cleaner city.

“We want to hear from people right across the city how we can address litter problems in our capital,” said the Lord Mayor.

"Everyone has a role to play in this. Residents, business and community groups can all make a submission to Dublin City Council on what they want to see done to make Dublin a cleaner, more sustainable city.

In the last few years, we have seen major steps taken to tackle Dublin’s litter problem, with 24-hour street cleaning services, recruitment of more waste management staff, and investing in waste compactors.

These measures have made a difference, but we know more work needs to be done.

It is vital that we all work together to help shape a cleaner Dublin. We must take stronger steps to address the litter problem in our city centre.”

The draft plan can be viewed here and submissions can be emailed to [email protected].

“The closing date to make a submission is Friday 1 May, and I encourage people right across the city centre to have their say and help deliver a cleaner capital,” concluded the Lord Mayor.
