Statement from Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Ray McAdam on death of former Cllr Pat Crimmins
Published on 11th May 2026
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Pat.
Pat was a larger than life character, known and respected across many constituencies. While he remained forever faithful to his native Cork, Raheny became his adopted home and a community in which he made a real and lasting contribution.
For many years, Pat soldiered with commitment, loyalty and good humour in what was formerly Dublin North East. He served on the Trade Union Council and the Dublin Regional Council, and he put himself before the people as a candidate in the Local Elections of 2004, 2009 and 2014.
Pat was also a great colleague to me, and to so many Councillors, during his tenure on Dublin City Council. He brought warmth, humour, experience and decency to public life, and he was always generous with his time and advice.
Pat gave generously of his energy and his voice. He was a committed community man and someone who cared deeply about the people and places he served.
I want to extend my sincerest condolences to Pat’s sons and daughter, to his extended family, his friends, neighbours, colleagues and all who knew and loved him.
May Pat rest in peace.
