Library Services

Your information is collected to provide you, as a library user, with the library service and a single national library management system.

The legal basis and legitimate interest for processing data are included in:- 

  • Public Libraries Acts 1855 & 1947 
  • Local Government Act, 2001 – Part 9, Chapter 3 – Library and Archival Functions 
  • National Monuments Act, 1930-2004 (in relation to the discovery and donation of archaeological and historical objects in the Museum)  

Sharing Information

The Council may share your information internally (within the Council) in accordance with statutory obligations. In addition, the Council may share your information with third parties in accordance with statutory and regulatory obligations. Data is shared with other Irish Local Authority Libraries for the purpose of providing shared library services. In addition, data is also shared with the service provider of the Single National Library Management System. Library users who wish to use library online sources can chose to register with various third parties.
