Request a Taken in Charge Certificate

If you are buying or selling a property and want to clarify if roadways (including footpaths, laneways, and public lighting and surface water drainage) are under the remit of Dublin City Council, you can apply for a taken in charge certificate.

Once processed, people buying or selling a property can use the certificate to confirm that Dublin City Council is responsible for the roadways. Please note that Taken in Charge Certificates are for conveyancing purposes only.

How to Apply

Applications should be submitted by email to [email protected]

Applicants must include:

  • The exact address of the property
  • A location map
  • Proof of payment

Fee and Payment

A fee of €63.00 applies.

Payment should be made by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

The account details for Taken In Charge Requests are as follows:

  • Account Description: EFT Account.
  • Narrative must include: TRTCC and first line of property address.
