Ranelagh Village Interim Scheme

The first section of the Sandyford Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street Active Travel Scheme will provide 650 metres of interim facilities in Ranelagh. This section is currently at the Construction phase.

The permanent Sandyford Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street Pedestrian and Cyclist Improvement Scheme will take some time to plan and design, so it is proposed to design and implement 650 metres of interim measures in Ranelagh Village. These measures will run from Woodstock Gardens to the Ranelagh Luas Bridge.

These interim measures will improve accessibility and provide a safer environment for cycling for all ages and abilities. The scheme will use light segregation measures, such as flexible kerbs and bollards to provide temporary protection to cyclists from vehicle traffic.

This section of the scheme will deliver:

  • 650 metres of segregated cycling facilities through Ranelagh Village.
  • A bus stop upgrade with an island bus stop layout.
  • A reduction in traffic lane width, reallocating road space to pedestrians and cyclists.
  • The installation of traffic management measures, such as new traffic signs and road markings.
  • The extinguishment and reorganisation of some parking bays and ancillary works.

Along Ranelagh Road, the existing loading bay in the village will be maintained. All existing disabled parking facilities will also be retained.
