Dublin City Council is inviting applications from communities to receive funding under the Community Climate Action Programme.
The Council has been allocated €1,938,000 by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communication to help shape and develop low carbon communities.
Funding is available in three categories from small projects (up to €20,000), medium projects (up to €50,000) and large-scale projects (up to €100,000).
Dean Eaton, Community Climate Action Officer with Dublin City Council said, “This substantial new fund will enable community groups, sports clubs and not-for-profit organisations to address climate related challenges at a local level and contribute towards our aim of making Dublin a climate neutral City by 2030. We want communities where we produce our own energy and make our buildings more energy efficient; support cleaner and greener travel options; build climate resilience by growing our own food and reducing the risk of flooding; provide opportunities to repair, share and upcycle goods; and create a better environments for our wildlife and future generations.”
Communities are encouraged to incorporate as many of the following five themes as possible in their action projects.
- Community Energy,
- Travel,
- Food and waste,
- Shopping and recycling,
- Local climate and environmental action.
Your action projects should seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, build climate resilience and transition to a lower carbon economy.
