Architectural Conservation Areas
An Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) is a designated area of special architectural, historical or cultural interest. The designation aims to preserve the special character of that area.
The goal is to provide a framework that will permit a degree of flexibility in terms of design consistent with the maintenance and improvement of the essential character of the ACA.
To fulfil this objective all new development in each ACA should be implemented and carried out in accordance with the policies/objectives outlined for each of Dublin's 24 ACAs in the documents below.
