How to Buy a Site

Step 1.

If you are interested in purchasing a site, you need to:

  1. Submit a request by post or email - click the hyperlink or see below for contact details.
  2. Include a location map identifying the land or property.
  3. Outline details of how you will use the land or property.

Step 2.

We will check the Council’s ownership of the site and ask other departments for comments on the proposal.

Step 3.

The Council’s chief valuer will decide a value for the site and negotiate terms and conditions for the proposed sale. The terms and conditions will then be offered in writing and must be accepted as they are.

Step 4.

All site sales must be approved by the elected members of Dublin City Council at their monthly meeting. This is a mandatory requirement under Section 183 of the Local Government Act 2001.

Once the sale has been approved, the Council’s law agent will prepare all necessary legal documents.
