Near Real-time Noise Monitoring in Dublin City
Ambient sound monitoring.
Dublin City Council has established noise monitoring stations as 14 sites throughout the city and near real-time access is provided to this data making information about sound and environmental noise in the city easier to obtain. Please use link below to access the data.
The aim of the monitoring network is to provide near real-time access to information on all sound levels which people are being exposed to at the vicinity of the monitoring locations.
The sites were selected, as far as possible, so that no one sound source (traffic, for instance) dominates over every other sound. For this reason, sound monitors are not placed at kerbside locations beside heavy flows of traffic.
Sound from traffic is measured, but this is done within the context of overall or 'ambient' sound levels.
