View or search planning applications

You can find planning applications online with our planning enquiry service. All planning applications received from 1st January 2005 are available to view online.

Planning applications are registered within two working days of being received. The full planning file will normally be available for viewing online within 10 working days.

Planning applications are also available to view at our Planning Counter, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8.

Please be advised there are statutory procedures, which Dublin City Council is required to follow. This means that planning documentation cannot be published until these procedures have been completed. Therefore, there may be a delay between the receipt of an application and the availability of the planning documentation on our website.

Privacy

The planning process is an open and transparent one.

All planning application documentation, observations/submissions and the weekly planning lists are made available for public inspection at the Council’s offices and on the Council’s website under Section 38 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended. This information is processed in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended and is made available to An Bord Pleanála in the case of an appeal under Section 127 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended.

There are two exceptions to the information being made available to the public and An Bord Pleanála (paper file or website): -

  • Part 2 of the planning application form.
  • The email addresses and telephone numbers  of observations/submissions.

How to Search for a Planning Application Online

You can search online for planning applications and decisions by using any of the following criteria: planning reference number, location, proposal description, name and date.

Use a planning reference

Enter all or part of a planning reference. When entering part of a reference use an asterisk* to replace the unknown section. For example, to search for a code starting 02 enter 02* in the 'planning reference' field.

Use a location reference

Search using one word or a combination words from the location. Avoid using apostrophes or comma’s as results will not be returned.

Use a name

To search for applications under the surname 'Regan', for instance, enter *Regan (asterisk followed by the surname) in the name field.

Use a proposal description

Enter any word, for example 'Oak', into the 'location/proposal' search field, to search for applications where that text appears in either the 'address' or 'long proposal description'.

Use a date range

To search for applications within a specified date range enter the appropriate dates in the 'from' and 'to' fields. To search for all applications regardless of date leave the date fields blank.

How to Create your own list of planning applications

Select the area for which you want to generate the weekly list and then insert the start and end date in the registration fields to list applications received during a particular week. To generate a decisions list simply insert the date range in the decisions fields. You do not have to confine your list to any particular week as the system will generate a list for any time frame you request.
