Ratoath Road Active Travel Scheme
Dublin City Council plans to provide 4.3km of improved walking and cycling facilities along Ratoath Road and Cappagh Road. This scheme is currently at the Preliminary Design phase.
The Ratoath Road Active Travel Scheme will deliver 4.3km of protected cycle paths and improved pedestrian facilities linking the Navan Road to New Cross College on Cappagh Road via Ratoath Road. There will also be also a shared cycleway along Kilshane Road and Kilshane Drive connecting back to Ratoath Road.

The scheme follows a linear route from Cabra Cross junction (Navan Road and Ratoath Road) to the junction of Heathfield Drive and Cappagh Road (Fingal County Council).
The main features of this scheme include:
- Junction upgrades and Safe Routes to School treatments at a number of locations along the route
- One-way cycle tracks on both sides for the majority of the route to Rathvilly Road
- 18 Junctions fully upgraded for increased cyclist and pedestrian safety.
- Additional Pedestrian crossings and side road junction tightening.
