Dublin City Council plans to provide 4.1km of improved walking and cycling facilities along Ratoath Road and Cappagh Road. This scheme is currently at the Preliminary Design phase.

The Ratoath Road Active Travel Scheme will deliver 4.3km of protected cycle paths and improved pedestrian facilities linking the Navan Road to New Cross College on Cappagh Road via Ratoath Road. There will also be also a shared cycleway along Kilshane Road and Kilshane Drive connecting back to Ratoath Road.

This scheme is part of Dublin City Council's Active Travel Network. To see where this scheme fits into the citywide network, view our interactive map.

  • Two-way cycle track along green verge from Rathvilly Road to Kilshane Road
  • Shared space along Kilshane Road and Kilshane Drive before rejoining Ratoath Road at Ratoath Ave
  • New pedestrian and cyclist crossing at New Cross College
  • Narrow section of Ratoath Road from Westwood Avenue to Ratoath Ave will be assessed as a separate project to develop a permanent solution.
