Apply for a Case, Rack or Shelf Licence
If you own a business, you can apply to Dublin City Council for permission to put a case, rack or shelf outside your premises to advertise or display articles for sale.
A case, rack or shelf is a small structure placed outside a shop to display goods for sale. You must have a Case, Rack or Shelf Licence to place one of these structures outside your business on the public road or footpath.
A licence can only be granted for the area right outside your premises and under your control, except in exceptional circumstances.
The Application Process
Step 1
Contact us to arrange an on-site meeting to see if the footpath can accommodate a case, rack or shelf.
Step 2
Publish a notice in the newspaper and erect a site notice. You can find more information on what must be included in the notices in the Case, Rack or Shelf Licence Application Form.
Step 3
Submit the application form with enclosures and return by email or post.
