Casual and Event Trading Licences

A Casual Trading licence is required to sell goods on the public road or at a designated casual trading area.

Casual trading is the selling of goods on the public road or at a place where the public has right of access. A licence is required to engage in casual trading (under the Casual Trading Act 1995) and it is an offence to trade without a valid licence.

Through Dublin City Council, you can apply for the following licence types:

1. Casual Trading (Designated Area)

This allows you to sell goods in a specific street or location that Dublin City Council has approved for trading.

2. Casual Trading (Event)

This allows you to trade at or near a specific event, such as a market or festival. This licence is only valid for the day or days of the event.

3. Temple Bar Market Licence

This casual trading licence is specific to trading in the Temple Bar area. It is tied to the Temple Bar Markets which run regularly.
