Charge

Domestic call-outs

Dublin Fire Brigade applies a charge to call-outs to all domestic incidents and alarms.

No charges are applied to local authority owned properties.

Some household insurance policies will cover the charge.

€500 for first hour or part thereof regardless of the number of fire brigade vehicles involved.

€450 per vehicle per hour or part thereof for subsequent hours.

Commercial call-outs – to include Road Traffic accidents

Dublin Fire Brigade applies a charge to call-outs to all commercial incidents and alarms – to include road traffic accidents

€610 for first hour or part thereof regardless of the number of fire brigade vehicles involved.

€485 per vehicle per hour or part thereof for subsequent hours.

Who is billed in the case of a domestic fire/false alarm/chimney fire?

The owner of the premises is billed.

Who is billed in the case of a road traffic accident?

The registered owner/owners of the vehicle(s) concerned is billed.

Is the caller charged?

No the beneficiary of the service is charged.

Who is charged in the case of rented premises?

The owner of the premises will be billed.

Is there a charge if a fire tender assists with a medical emergency?

There is no charge if a fire tender assists in a medical emergency.

Does my insurance cover these charges?

Many household and vehicle insurance policies cover the charges, however people are advised to check their policies and/or check with their insurance company or broker.

What happens if a malicious call is made and there is no actual incident?

In cases where Dublin Fire Brigade responds and there is no actual incident, no charge will be levied.

Can I appeal this charge ?

Appeals must be made in writing to:

Generally the only grounds for appeal are “inability to pay” which must be demonstrated by including copies of social welfare receipts and/or pay-slips. Other extenuating circumstances may be considered.
