Road closures can only be requested for:

  • Facilitating building works
  • Storage of materials on public roads or footpaths
  • Erection of hoarding or scaffolding on public roads or footpaths
  • Carrying out commercial activity such as the placement and erection of mobile cranes or hoists on public roads or footpaths

Only in exceptional circumstances, where Dublin City Council is satisfied that there is no alternative, will consideration be given to permitting road space on heavily trafficked routes to facilitate construction or development works. Short‑term weekend road closures to facilitate the on‑site erection or dismantling of cranes will be facilitated where possible.
