Sinn Fein prisoner being conveyed to Dublin CastleSport and the City Seminar was held at Dublin City Library & Archive, Pearse Street on 11 September 2010. The seminar focused on the sporting history of Dublin and featured talks on the GAA and the Irish Revolution, the history of the Maids of the Mountain Hockey Club, Bohemians FC, Dublin's sports grounds and how Dublin saved hurling.

The seminar was organised to celebrate the launch of the Dublin City Sports Archive, held at Dublin City Archives, 138-144 Pearse Street. Dublin has a rich sporting heritage, with sport also playing an intrinsic role in the city’s social and cultural identity. Every local sports club or organization produces its own original records such as photographs, programs, minute books, financial records, correspondence, lists of membership, results of competitions, social events ephemera, and scrapbooks. These records are evidence of its activities and its significance at local and national level, and are of great value to researchers. Sports clubs and organisations who may wish to donate sports archives should contact [email protected] for further information.
