East Wall to North Wall Active Travel Scheme

This Active Travel scheme provides 1km of improved walking and cycling facilities in the heart of Dublin. It is currently in the Concept Development and Option Selection phase.

The East Wall to North Wall Active Travel scheme connects recently constructed walking and cycling infrastructure on East Wall Road with North Wall Quay, via East Road and New Wapping Street.

This scheme forms part of Dublin City Councils 314km Active Travel Network, which aims to transform the way people travel in the city by providing safe walk-wheel-cycle infrastructure. You can view our interactive map to see where this scheme fits into the planned city-wide network.

The Active Travel Programme Office and its appointed consultants, Jacobs, are currently investigating the Project Study Area (see map below) and developing a preferred concept design. The concept development and option selection phase is supported by the findings of a pre-design workshop held in March 2025. See more information about the workshop here.

In addition to the pre-design consultation, all members of the public will be given an opportunity to provide comment on the project once a preferred option has been developed.

Future updates about this project will be communicated via this webpage.
