Phase 1: Clonskeagh Bridge to Woodstock Gardens
This is the first of three phases of work that will be carried out on the Sandyford Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street (SC2C) Active Travel Scheme. It will provide 1.4km of improved walking, wheeling and cycling facilities from Clonskeagh Bridge, along Clonskeagh Road, Sandford Road as far as Woodstock Gardens in Ranelagh. It is currently in the Detailed Design and Procurement phase.
It is anticipated that we will begin construction on this phase in Q1 2026.

Phase 1 of the SC2C scheme commences at Clonskeagh Bridge and terminates at Woodstock Gardens in Ranelagh.

The scheme will provide high-quality, continuous, safe and accessible walking, wheeling and cycling facilities for people of all ages and abilities. Some of the key features of the project are listed below:

- Continuous footpaths across side roads to improve pedestrian priority.
- Upgraded junctions with safer pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities.
- Safe, segregated cycling facilities in both directions.
- Upgraded bus stops including Island Bus Stops.
- Landscaping upgrades including tree and shrub planning.
- New paving, benches, street furniture and other public realm improvements.
