Dublin City Library and Archive (DCLA) are currently working on a project to add the periodical collection of over 2,000 titles to the public library catalogue. Serendipity is a researcher’s friend, and we hope that having the periodicals on the online catalogue will enhance the collection’s discoverability.

People may be surprised to see the wide range of periodicals, journals and magazines from the 18th century to the present day in our collection. Some real treasures have been uncovered that will be of interest to researchers and the general public and we are delighted to be able to bring them to a wider audience. A mention must also be made of the advertising material contained in the publications – they can often tell us a lot about the intended readership, as well as valuable information about the shops, goods and services available at the time.
