Meeting with Vice-President of European Investment Bank
Published on 3rd June 2026
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam and Dublin City Council Chief Executive Richard Shakespeare were delighted to meet with Vice-President of the European Investment Bank Ioannis Tsakiris today.
The Vice-President was in Dublin leading a high-level European Investment Bank Group delegation which was meeting with Government Ministers and other State Agencies.
The meeting between the Lord Mayor, Mr Shakespeare and Mr Tsakiris took place at the Mansion House. It provided an opportunity to discuss the EIB’s engagement supporting priority investment in cities across Europe and potential technical and financial backing for large scale housing, transport and climate adaption investment in Dublin.
The Lord Mayor said, “This was an important and constructive meeting about Dublin’s future. Dublin City Council has a clear ambition for our capital city: more homes, stronger public infrastructure, a renewed city centre, greater climate resilience and a more liveable, competitive European capital. Delivering that ambition requires serious partnership and serious investment. The European Investment Bank has supported transformative projects in cities across Europe. Dublin should be part of that story, and today’s meeting was an important step in building that relationship.”
Mr Shakespeare looks forward to further engagement between Dublin City Council and the European Investment Bank to build a long-term relationship going forward.
