Balbutcher Lane Junction Reconfiguration
The Balbutcher Lane Junction is now open
The site is located at the current roundabout of Balbutcher Lane (North/South), Ballymun, Dublin 9. The development of Hampton Woods lies to the north of the site, with the residential developments of Cranogue and Belclare Park to the south.
The proposed roadworks will replace the existing roundabout with a signalised junction and a new road connection will be created from Balbutcher Lane, through Hampton Woods to the R104, St Margaret’s Road.
The proposed scheme will improve connectivity within the Ballymun area and provide safer pedestrian and cycling facilities for the community
The proposed scheme includes:
1.Provision of new roadways & footpaths
2.Provision of new cycleways including protected cyclist junction design
3.Upgrade of the existing water mains network
4.Provision of new surface water drainage network
5.Provision of new public lighting
6.Provision of new road markings, traffic signs, traffic signals, and traffic calming measures
7.Provision of controlled pedestrian crossings
8.Provision of all necessary traffic management to complete the scheme safely
9.Landscaping including the planting of new trees

Contractor
Dublin City Council has engaged the following main contractor for the works:
Clonmel Enterprises Ltd
Unit R
M7 Business Park
Newhall, Naas
Co. Kildare
W91 W6H
045 981900 or 045 981901
For further information or if any particular issues arise during the contract, please contact the Clonmel Enterprises' liaison officer, 083 0569924.
Works are ongoing and are expected to be completed by December, 2020. Working hours will be mainly 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work (particularly at road junctions) may be required. Carriageway surfacing works (undertaken towards the end of the project) will most likely be carried out at night time or weekends.
Access to premises: pedestrian access to premises along the scheme will be maintained at all times during the Works. Vehicular access will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable. When excavating the road outside individual premises, access will necessarily be temporarily interrupted. The contractor will liaise with those affected in advance of the work to minimise the disruption.
Similarly, access for emergency services and refuse collection, will also be maintained.
Vehicular passage
As the Works include for the full reconstruction and realignment of the existing carriageways, it will be necessary at times to operate a Stop-go shuttle system during the Works. Motorists are advised that this will inevitably cause some delay to both inbound and outbound trips during the full course of the Works
Acknowledgement
Dublin City Council apologies for any inconvenience caused and seeks the public’s understanding and cooperation during the course of these Road Improvement Works.
