Dublin City Council's Economic Development Office and International Relations’ Office hosted the launch of Dublin City Council's EU Programme Participation Strategy 2021 – 2027 in July 2021. The event included a panel discussion with an extensive array of stakeholders and speakers who shared their European, national, regional and local perspectives on the opportunities for Dublin in the next seven-year programme period. The launch of the strategy took place at a critical time in the history of our city, our country and the European Union.
The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Alison Gilliland, and it was chaired by Councillor Claire O’Connor, Chair of Economic Development & Enterprise Strategic Policy Committee. Our key speakers were Willem Noë, European Semester Officer, European Commission Representation in Ireland; Jim Conway, Director, Eastern Midlands Regional Assembly; and Richard Shakespeare, Assistant Chief Executive, Dublin City Council. Our panel discussion on EU Programme Opportunities included panellists Willem Noë, Jim Conway and Mary MacSweeney, Deputy Head of Economic Development.
