The Oscar Traynor Woods development is a greenfield site being developed by Dublin City Council (DCC). Designated as a Strategic Development and Regeneration Area (SDRA) under the Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028, the site is located within the DCC North Central administrative area. It is bounded by the port tunnel toll road to the east and Coolock Lane / Oscar Traynor Road to the north. To the west and south are the residential areas of Kilmore, Beaumont and Whitehall.
Glenveagh Homes have been appointed as the main contractor on this new development which will aim to deliver 850 residential units including 342 social, 168 affordable purchase and 340 cost rental homes. In line with the Housing for All Plan, one of the key aims of the project is to deliver a cost-efficient scheme while maintaining quality and increasing the supply of affordable homes.
The Oscar Traynor Woods development will be delivered in two phases. It will be fully completed by Q3 2027 with the first residents expected to move into their homes by Q4 2025.
As well as providing high quality new homes, the development has been designed to cater for a diverse and inclusive community. Oscar Traynor Woods will include a large and unique public park organised around the Naniken River. Also included will be a civic square and a number of doorstep parks located within the new neighbourhoods. All areas of the development have been designed to facilitate universal access to all users and is in compliance with Part M of the building regulations.
Further to this, a range of community facilities have been incorporated into the design. These include a community building which will contain a café for community and cultural uses, a creche, a bespoke play area, table tennis tables, a Multi-Use Games Area and a number of retail and commercial spaces.
In close proximity to the site is the Northside Shopping Centre, Dublin Airport, Beaumont Hospital and Dublin City University (DCU). Oscar Traynor Woods is also located very close to the M50 motorway and the Port Tunnel which provides easy access to both the city and surrounding areas to residents.
