Book clubs in Dublin City Libraries

Book clubs are a great way to establish a sense of community with other readers. You can spend hours chatting with people who love the same authors as you, or debating about the merits of a particular character/plot.
- Either way it's a more affordable way to have an active social life.
- It forces you to actually read.
- You can make new friends not just the fictional ones/or on social media.
- It broadens your horizons.
- It Improves your writing skills.

This is our Book Club page. There are plenty of options to suit most bibliophiles. FYI: affilate book clubs order books from the library but not meet in the branch. They're essentially private groups.
Most of the following book clubs are adult unless otherwise stated and meet in the branch. Dates may change so please contact the library in advance and the same goes for titles being read.
Ballyfermot Library
Ballyfermot Library book club is back and looking for new members! The book club meets on the second Monday of each month.
Ballymun Library
Please note that most of the following book clubs take a break for the month of July.
- Ballymun Evening Book Club: meets last Monday of every month, 6.30-7.30pm. Members read a pot pourri of fiction (classics, genre, bestsellers). Fully booked. Waiting list only.
- Murder Book Club: meets on the last Thursday of every month at 6.30pm. Members read crime fiction. Please note we take a break for the summer.
- Junior Book Club: For children aged 8-12 yrs. Meets of the first Wednesday of every month, 3.15pm-4pm.
- Kids Comic Club: 8-12 yrs. Meets the last Tuesday of every month at 4.30pm. Children read a graphic novel and learn to draw the characters. Fully booked. Waiting list only.
- Baby Book Club: New borns to 2 yrs. Meets Mondays at 10.00am. Please note we take a break for the summer.
- Toddler Book Club: For children aged 2 yrs to pre-school. Meets Thursdays at10am to 10.45am. Please note we take a break for the summer.
- First Wednesday meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm.
- Points of View book club meets every second Wednesday of the month at 12pm.
- Page Turners meets first Monday of the month at 5.45-6.45pm.
- Science Fiction meets second Tuesday of the month at 5.30-6.30pm. The current genre is ‘space opera’ as opposed to ‘hard science’ science fiction or fantasy.
- NEW! Short Stories Book Club starts on Tuesday 20 September at 5:45pm. The group will meet on the third Tuesday of every month.

- Library and City Connects Junior Book Club organised in conjunction with Central Library. Every second Tuesday at 3.30pm via Zoom. Returning in the Autumn.
- Royal Canal Book Club is organised with Phibsboro Library. Last Wednesday of each Month at 7pm via Zoom.
Coolock Library
Coolock Library Book Club meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7pm. The Morning Book Club meets on the last Wednesday of every month at 11am. Drop in to pick up your copy of the latest book club choice or contact [email protected] for more details
- The Grand Canal Book Club meets on the second Monday of every month at 6.30pm.
- The Dolphin's Barn Book Club meets on the last Thursday of the month at 11am.
- One affiliated book club but does not meet at the library.
- The Thursday Book Club meets every Thursday afternoon from 2 - 3.30pm. They read one book a month but gather weekly to discuss. Resumes in September.
- Easy Readers Book Club meets the last Thursday of the month from 6.30 -7.45pm.
- Two affiliated groups who do not meet on site.
Drumcondra Library
Six affiliated book clubs that do not meet in the library. The Irish Revolution Book Club meets fortnightly - starting Thursday 3rd November at 6.30pm.
The adult book club is fully subscribed, please contact the library to be added to the waiting list. This book club meets at 11am on the first Tuesday of every month E: [email protected]
The Junior Book Club meets at 3.45pm on the second Wednesday of every month for children aged 9 to 12 years old.
The Toddler Book Group run by Barnardos meets on Thursdays during term-time. The two morning sessions are fully subscribed presently, please contact Barnardos or the library for more details or to register interest. E: [email protected]
Marino Library

Pearse Street Library
The Monday Evening Book Club meet on the second Monday of each month at 6.30pm. New Members welcome!
The Thursday Morning Book Club meets in Pearse Street Library on the first Thursday of every month at 11am.
Raheny Library the book club meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 11.12.30pm *starting 15 February 2023. Spaces are limited so booking is essential. Copies of the book available in the library.
Rathmines Library
The Rathmines Library Wednesday Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 2.45pm. Resumes in September. All welcome.
Walkinstown Library
Walkinstown Readers meet every second Thursday at 2.30 pm and there are also four affiliated book clubs.
