How the Truce came about

Published on 22nd July 2021

How the Truce came about

In this recorded online lecture, Historian in Residence Cormac Moore tells the story of how the Truce came about. "The guns are silent - but they remain in the hands of the Irish Volunteers".

The Truce agreed at the Mansion House in July 1921 was the culmination of negotiations between Sinn Féin and the British government to bring an end to hostilities of the War of Independence.
