Learn Irish for free with some of Dublin City Libraries’ online resources

Get into the mood this Valentines Day with the most romantic picks from our library catalogue.

The first book printed in the Irish language did not appear until 1571, over one hundred years after Gutenberg’s invention. The earliest works printed in Irish and using the Irish typeface were religious works commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I which aimed to convert Irish speakers to the reformed church.

Ireland Reads is a campaign to get the whole country reading during February in the lead up to a national day of reading on Saturday, February 22.

Copies of Written on the Body are available in our libraries, and also as an eBook on Borrowbox.
