Online newspapers and magazines are now available on BorrowBox! This means that you can get ebooks, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines all in one place. Some newspapers and magazines on BorrowBox ePress can only be read while you are physically in the library. This is due to access restrictions put in place by the publisher.

Dublin City Council is delighted to share plans to develop a new Public Library in the heart of Terenure village. The Library will be located on the site of the existing library on Templeogue Road. Our ambition is to deliver a library of circa 1,000 square metres.

Dublin City Library and Archive is pleased to present the annual Sir John T. Gilbert Commemorative Lecture which will be held on 29th May 2024 with a talk by Professor Jane Ohlmeyer entitled, ‘The lived experiences of women in early modern Dublin’.

The souvenir programme was produced to celebrate and promote the newly built Savoy as ‘a luxury Cinema worthy of this great city’

The novels nominated and shortlisted for the Award will be available for readers to borrow from Dublin City Libraries and from public libraries around Ireland, or can be borrowed as eBooks and some as eAudiobooks on the free Borrowbox app, available to all public library users.

Get ready to be creative in the wonderful new recording studios located in Ballyfermot Library and soon to be available for library patron use! Aspiring musicians, podcasters, film makers, broadcasters even, take note, our Creative Studio is about to excite and delight! What is the Creative Studio?It is a digital maker space facilitating the creation of music recordings, podcasts, videos, digital stories and oral histories. And more besides. At the centre of this space are two recording booths providing library patrons with access to a variety of audio and video recording equipment and software.What can I do in the Creative Studio?So much! For example,Record a music track, a song, create a demo.Get some band practice in.Deliver a Facebook Live event, be it a live music performance, an interview with a local celebrity, artist, historian, or even a poetry reading.Record an audio or video podcast, could be an interview, a lecture, a group discussion.Record a video and upload to Youtube.What can I do now?Interested in using this wonderful new facility? You must first fill out the Creative Studio - Request to Use Facilities Form. We will then be in touch in due course to notify you of your scheduled induction session. Musicians, important to note, you will need to bring your own musical instruments.Please take note also - while basic assistance may be provided, the studios are essentially self-service. Dublin City Council’s Historian in Residence programme welcomes two new historians. Elizabeth Kehoe and Katie Blackwood will be working in the Dublin Central and Dublin North Central areas respectively. Mary Muldowney, Cormac Moore, and Catherine Scuffil return to the programme. Dervilia Roche continues as the Historian in Residence for Children.

Dublin City Council will unveil a commemorative plaque for the writer Maeve Brennan at her childhood home (48 Cherryfield Avenue) in Ranelagh on 6 January 2024 at 11am.
