General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) – Privacy Notice -Short Term Letting Unit


The basis for processing your personal data is to record your notification of exemption under the New Short Term Letting Regulations, Planning and Development (Amendment) Regulations 2019 which came into effect on 1st July 2019.

The legal basis for processing the personal data is the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019 and the Planning Act 2000 (Exempted Development) (No.2) Regulations 2019

The information may be shared with:

  • Solicitors, in the event of legal proceedings
  • Statutory, regulatory and law enforcement authorities, as required by law.
  • Internal departments within Dublin City Council:
    • Law Department (Law Agent & Property Title Researchers)
    • Planning Registry/ Planning Decisions (Planning Applications)
    •  Conservation Section (Protected Structures)
    • Environmental Health Section.
    • Drainage Department
    • Dublin Fire Brigade

Dublin City Council receives information from other Dublin City Council sections e.g.  Customer Services and the Fire Brigade Section each of which has its own Privacy Notice. Information is also received from the general public via E-mails and by phone.

Your information is retained for relevant periods based on the National Retention Policy for Local Authority Records. (7 years)

Failure to notify the local planning authority as required is a breach of the planning code and will result in planning enforcement proceedings under Part V111 of the Planning Act 2000 (as amended)
