Charities chosen for the Lord Mayor of Dublin’s Charity Ball
Published on 7th March 2025
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain is delighted to announce the charities chosen for the Lord Mayor of Dublin’s Charity Ball 2025.
They are The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Dublin Rape Crisis Centre were chosen by the Lord Mayor. “I am delighted to make today’s announcement in recognising these two important charities. One of my priorities as Lord Mayor of Dublin, is dementia awareness, an issue close to my heart. I have seen first-hand the extraordinary work that the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland do to support those living with dementia and their carers. The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has been supporting and advocating for victims of sexual violence for over 40 years and the work they do in this field, and in education particularly around consent, is more important now than ever.”
The third charity, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland was chosen by EHL Experiences. “At EHL Experiences, we are proud to support Cystic Fibrosis Ireland as our charity of choice this year. This cause holds a special place in our hearts, as we have witnessed the profound impact Cystic Fibrosis has on the life of one of our valued team members. Their young son has been directly affected by this challenging condition, and we've seen, first-hand, the constant hospital visits, medical appointments, and the overwhelming need for support that families like theirs face every day. Cystic Fibrosis Ireland plays a crucial role in providing the vital care, resources, and funding needed to help improve the lives of those affected by this condition. By choosing this charity, we hope to make a tangible difference in the lives of those navigating this difficult journey, offering them a glimmer of hope and a reminder that they are not alone.” Padraic O’Kane CEO & Co-Founder of EHL Experiences.
Each charity was represented by an Ambassador at a photocall announcement in the Mansion House, Pamela Laird for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Aaron and his sister Ella-May for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and Bláthnaid Raleigh, survivor of sexual violence, for Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
The Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball is a ticketed event which takes place each year and the money raised from the tickets, auction and raffle on the night goes to two charities chosen by the Lord Mayor and one chosen by The Round Room at the Mansion House. The Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball will take place on Saturday, 10th May 2025.
The evening is fully sponsored by EHL Experiences and the Office of the Lord Mayor of Dublin. The night promises to be an evening of delicious food, live auction, music and raising some much needed funds for the three deserving charities in the beautiful and historic Round Room at the Mansion House.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is Ireland's leading dementia-specific service provider. It works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia-specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers and operates the Alzheimer National Helpline offering information and support to anyone affected by dementia on 1800 341 341.
Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) is dedicated to increasing knowledge and awareness of Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a rare, progressive, genetic condition. CFI provide advice, support and services to people living with CF and their families, while also investing in research, specialist CF clinical teams and services to improve care for those living with CF and ultimately find a cure.
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is an independent charity with a dual mission: to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of rape and other forms of sexual violence. Since 1979, from its Centre in Dublin, it has provided services across the country supporting survivors of sexual assault in healing from their trauma. DRCC operates the 24-hour National Helpline, which had almost 19,000 contacts in 2023. The organisation accompanied almost 600 survivors to Sexual Assault Treatment Units for medical care after sexual assault or rape and/or to Garda Stations and Courts in 2023. Dublin Rape Crisis Centre runs trauma-informed training for frontline staff and professionals to equip them with specialised knowledge and skills to support survivors. It also seeks to prevent sexual violence through education, training, campaigning and policy work.
