Dublin City Council in partnership with O’Cualann Cohousing Alliance CLG, is delighted to announce the completion of 12 new affordable homes in Oileáin na Crannóige, Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun.

The recently completed development, of 12 three-bedroom homes, has been delivered with the support of the Department of Housing Local Government & Heritage, through the Affordable Housing Fund.

These are the first Affordable Homes, delivered by Dublin City Council and its partners, under the Government's Affordable Housing Scheme, with further developments underway in O’Devaney Gardens and Oscar Traynor Road.

“The provision of Affordable Housing is a key priority for the City Council,” said the Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain. “The completion of these new affordable and energy efficient family homes in Ballymun marks an important milestone in delivering this important tenure across the city.”

Designed by Smith Kennedy Architects, all homes in Oileáin na Crannóige are spacious, bright and energy efficient with triple glazed windows, demand control mechanical ventilation systems and air to water heat pump systems. All properties have an A2 energy rating.  All homes feature a private rear garden with a mixture of on and off street parking spaces.

Located on Balbutcher Lane Oileáin Na Crannóige is in a well established area close to Schools, Parks and local amenities. Excellent transport connections provide easy access to the city centre and Dublin Airport.

“I am delighted to see the completion of the final phase of this scheme, delivering a total of 49 affordable homes in Oileáin na Crannoige in Ballymun. Dublin City Council is committed to providing people with opportunities to purchase their own home at more affordable prices and our programme will deliver further opportunities for affordable purchase later this year in O’Devaney Gardens and Oscar Traynor Road,” said Mick Mulhern, Assistant Chief Executive, Housing, Dublin City Council.

“Ó Cualann looks forward to continuing this relationship with Dublin City Council,” said Hugh Brennan CEO, O’Cualann CLG.
