The Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain, is delighted to announce that after the huge success of the ‘Kindness Heroes’ initiative in 2024, she is inviting schools across the city to take part again this year.

The initiative is one that aims to promote and nurture a culture of compassion and goodwill in Dublin schools and communities.

Dublin is a city that is known for its vibrant community spirit and through this initiative it begins a mission to spread kindness throughout neighbourhoods. The ‘Kindness Heroes’ initiative invites children to showcase acts of kindness during the 26th to 30th of May 2025.

Lord Mayor Emma Blain said, "As a parent of two young children, I know just how important it is to teach children kindness from a young age. Kindness is not just about having great manners, it’s a fundamental skill that helps our children to grow and understand kindness. A single act of kindness can be a light in someone’s darkest moment, even the smallest gesture – a smile, a kind word, can make a person’s day a bit better.”

Participating schools throughout Dublin city are encouraged to nominate students who exemplify the spirit of kindness through their actions. These ‘Kindness Heroes’ will be recognised and honoured by a Certificate award.

"We want our young citizens to understand how a small effort of kindness can make an impact on others," added The Lord Mayor. “They not only make a positive difference in someone else's life but also contribute to building a caring community."

Schools are encouraged to nominate one of their Kindness Superheroes to be invited into the Mansion House at a later date for presentation of a Lord Mayor Scroll. You can email details of the act of kindness including the pupils name to [email protected].

You can also share acts of kindness and inspire others by tagging the Lord Mayor of Dublin on social media platforms including Instagram (@lordmayorofdublin) and Facebook (@lordmayorofdublin).
