Lord Mayor invites people to share their favourite memories
Published on 24th March 2025

The Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain is inviting people to share their favourite memories of time spent in Dublin City, or ‘town’ as many Dubs like to call it!
‘Memories Made in Dublin City’ is a campaign by the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council. It invites people from across Dublin City, around Ireland and all over the world to share their special memories.
For some people, those memories will be from yesterday, last year or 20 years ago. For those of us who have lived a little longer, those memories can go back 80 years and they are just as special as the ones we created yesterday.
One of the Lord Mayor’s initiatives for her term of office is to actively engage in positive ageing planning and care for the elderly within our communities and to raise awareness of dementia in Dublin.
We're inviting people to share their happy memories made in Dublin City, memories of times with friends, with families, communities or by themselves. A selection of those memories will then form an exhibition to take place in Dublin in May.
The Lord Mayor said, “I’ll never forget summer days spent at Pets Corner in Dublin Zoo, or the smell of the hops drifting over the city on an autumn day. I can’t wait to hear and see the special ways that this city has made its mark in the hearts of Dubliners, and to share those special memories with everyone.”
Memories can be shared as a photograph, a video, a voice recording or simply as a few words. To share your memory visit www.madeofmemories.ie to add your memory to the 'Memories Made in Dublin City' campaign. The closing date for sharing your memories is Friday 25th April 2025.
