Consultation Platform
Engage.dublincity.ie is Dublin City Council’s digital platform for engaging people and consulting with the public on the design and delivery of local authority public services.
Personal Data
We collect your information if you choose to register with the platform, when you provide feedback (e.g. voting, posting an idea, writing a comment, answering a survey, etc.) and for the proper functioning of the platform.
Engage.dublincity.ie uses your Personal Data for the following purposes:
- To communicate your input and to provide aggregated reports of all the data collected on this Platform to assist with Dublin City Council decision-making.
- To create and maintain your user profile on the Platform.
- To manage the identification and authentication of users.
- To provide information about your community and/or alert you when activities on the Platform may interest you. You can opt-out of email notifications from your user profile at any time.
- To improve the Platform and to monitor its functionalities.
This is in line with Section 71 (2) (b) of Local Government Act 2001 – “to improve customer service to the public generally” - which provides the underlying legal basis for engagement. Specific statutory consultations may be a requirement under other legislation.
The Personal Data is only stored and processed for the period required for the purpose of the processing. After that, the Personal Data will be deleted or anonymized. Retention periods will vary based on the statutory requirement the consultation is carried out under.
Sharing Information
The Council may share your information internally (within the Council) in accordance with statutory obligations. In addition, the Council may share your information with third parties in accordance with statutory and regulatory obligations to deliver this service.
