SocialPilot Management Platform

Dublin City Council uses SocialPilot, a third-party social media management platform, to support the scheduling, publishing, and analysis of content across our official social media channels. The platform is used exclusively by authorised DCC staff for the purpose of managing communications and public engagement.

Legal basis for processing

The legal basis for processing this data is:

Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

What data we process

In the course of using SocialPilot, the following categories of personal data may be processed:
- Staff names and email addresses (for account access and activity tracking)
- Social media content and engagement metrics
- Metadata associated with posts (e.g. timestamps, platform used)
- Technical data such as IP addresses and browser types (collected by SocialPilot for security and analytics)

No special category data is processed through SocialPilot.

How your data is shared

SocialPilot acts as a data processor on behalf of Dublin City Council. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is in place to ensure compliance with GDPR and to safeguard the data processed.

Data may be stored or processed on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. In such cases, SocialPilot relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure adequate protection of personal data.

How long we keep your data

Staff account data and associated activity logs are retained for up to 12 months after the user account is deactivated or no longer in use. Social media content and analytics data are retained in accordance with DCC’s records retention schedule.

Cookies and tracking

SocialPilot may use cookies and similar technologies to collect usage data when staff access the platform via web browser. This is governed by SocialPilot’s own cookie policy.

Your rights

You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase data in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission
