Public Participation in the Identification of New Bathing Waters

Each year, members of the public are invited to participate in a public participation process.

This enables you to

  1. Comment on existing designated bathing waters with a view to continuation of designation.
  2. Comment on other bathing waters not currently designated but which may be considered for designation.

Dublin City Councils existing designated bathing waters are:

  • Dollymount Strand
  • Sandymount Strand

EPA guidance on public submissions and the identification process is available at https://www.beaches.ie/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Public-Advice-Identifying-Bathing-Waters.pdf. Applications should be made using the format outlined in the guidance. Failure to provide adequate information may result in the application being deemed invalid.
