Public Participation in the Identification of New Bathing Waters
Each year, members of the public are invited to participate in a public participation process.
This enables you to
- Comment on existing designated bathing waters with a view to continuation of designation.
- Comment on other bathing waters not currently designated but which may be considered for designation.
Dublin City Councils existing designated bathing waters are:
- Dollymount Strand
- Sandymount Strand
- Half Moon Bathing Location
Dublin City Council monitors 3 other monitored waters including Merrion Strand, Shelley Banks and the North Bull Wall. Further information on specific bathing locations can be found on the National Bathing Water Website here.
EPA guidance on public submissions and the identification process is available at https://www.beaches.ie/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Public-Advice-Identifying-Bathing-Waters.pdf. Applications should be made using the format outlined in the guidance. Failure to provide adequate information may result in the application being deemed invalid.
Suitable applications shall be submitted to [email protected] or by post to Water Pollution Control, 14 Lower Bridge Street, Ushers Quay, Dublin 8. Closing date for submissions is the 26/09/2024.
