Due to Level 5 restrictions there is currently a 20 day turnaround time on Motor Tax Applications.  Customers are encouraged to use the Motor Tax Online Website at www.motortax.ie where applications are processed within 5 working days

General Data Protection Regulation – Privacy Notice, Motor Tax

Your personal data may be exchanged with the agencies listed below under the remit of DTTAS in accordance with law.

  • An Garda Síochána – criminal investigations
  • State Agencies – civil & criminal investigations e.g. non- payment of toll fees
  • Solicitors – civil & criminal investigations e.g. road traffic accidents
  • Local Authorities – civil & criminal investigations e.g. litter fines

Motor Tax Office

Motor Tax is collected by Dublin City Council on behalf of the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government and caters for vehicles registered in Dublin City and County.

To pay your Motor Tax online please visit www.motortax.ie. You must have a PIN number to avail of this service. This number appears on your renewal form [RF100B]. If you are not in receipt of a renewal your PIN is the last 6 digits of your Vehicle Registration Certificate.

The Motor Tax Office accepts postal applications and these can be posted to the address below:-

The Motor Tax office is currently closed to the public though taxation remains possible online at www.motortax.ie or by post.
