Park West-Cherry Orchard Local Area Plan
The Park West-Cherry Orchard Local Area Plan (LAP) aims to build a vibrant and active community, while also encouraging a mix of homes, amenities and commercial spaces. This plan will be active until November 2029.
The Park West and Cherry Orchard LAP is Dublin City Council's plan to transform the area around Park West train station into a new mixed-use, urban neighbourhood.
The project will include:
- Over 2,000 new homes.
- New shops, cafés, community facilities, schools and childcare.
- Improved walking, cycling and public transport links.
- New parks and public spaces.
- Development centred around Park West and Cherry Orchard train station.
The aim is to create a well-connected, sustainable community with housing, amenities and jobs all within easy reach.
The Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028 lists Park West and Cherry Orchard as a Strategic Development Regeneration Area in Chapter 13. The Local Area Plan provides further detail and guidance for development in this area under Section 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000.
Resolution to Extend the Park West-Cherry Orchard LAP
Dublin City Council originally adopted the plan in October 2019. In October 2024, the elected members of Dublin City Council extended the plan for another five years. This LAP will now expire in November 2029.
