Public Litter Bins
Dublin City Council is responsible for emptying and maintaining over 3,500 public litter bins within its administrative area.
The location of litter bins is based on factors such as footfall, shop fronts and main thoroughfares which require a litter bin. Bins located in residential area are serviced daily Monday – Friday with higher demand locations also being serviced Sat/Sun, bins located on main thoroughfares shop fronts and high footfall locations are serviced at least once a day, 7-days a week with additional lifts as required.
Each bin is fitted with a QR code. This means that each bin can be scanned using a mobile phone and subsequently reported for being full/damaged/graffiti/illegal dumping. This request will be sent to the local waste management team for action.
